As reported in DMW Daily online, five major magazine publishers have announced a joint venture to capitalize on the growing trend of portable digital devices, such as Kindle and Nook. The idea behind the joint venture is to create common standards for a new digital storefront . . . and hopefully sell more magazines to digital device users.  The joint venture participants include Conde Nast, Hearst, Meredith, Hearst Corp, and Time Inc.
