Yammer, yammer — for many, “strategic alliance” is just jargon and Newspeak.  One of the curious things about strategic alliances is that they can take a wide variety of forms — just like personal relationships — so it’s hard to pin them down.

On the premise that 1+1=3 (or, as my colleague, sales trainer Rochelle Lisner, likes to say, 1+1=11), strategic alliances are a way of getting you more.  More business, more visibility, more product or service options . . . as well as less.  Less added infrastructure (than doing it yourself), less cost, and, ideally, fewer headaches.  Check out Steve Johnson’s article, “10 Reasons to Form A Strategic Business Alliance” for a clearly-written list of the top 10 reasons why you may want to consider this way of growing your business!
