The clock is ticking … I have to be on a Google® hangout call in 30 minutes. Here’s the problem: every time I try to either host or participate in a hangout, I run into technical snafus.

I’m stressed beyond belief, not just because I can’t figure out how to get onto the damn call (obviously, my eight years of higher education are absolutely useless).

Or that despite an hour-long session with a colleague, who patiently walked me through the steps, I still botched the hosting of a Hangout two weeks ago … and behind the scenes, like a computer’s operating system, is the constant nattering of “what’s the matter with you, Nina, that you can’t figure this out?”

Or, that I had an overstuffed list of things that I really wanted to get done before I go on this call … and don’t ask where the day has gone. Or, that immediately after my mastermind call ends, I have to high-tail it to the train to visit my parents.

Some days, automation just sucks.

Bill Gates once said that “automation makes an efficient process better. But it also makes an inefficient process worse.”

There’s the rub: I’ve haven’t found a way to make this process efficient yet.

And, as my friend and technology guru, Ramon Ray, indicates on this video, small business owners often create obstacles to their own productivity because they don’t get the proper training on the tools they want to use.

So yes, I need proper training … so that I don’t want to hang myself every time I’m on Google® Hangouts.

But as I look at where my time gets squandered, it helps me see where I really need to delegate better to build my business.
