In my law practice, I have worked with thousands of small business owners and entrepreneurs who consistently struggle with a huge problem: how to get more customers.
Recently, at the New York Times Small Business Summit, I interviewed Wendi Caplan-Carroll, of the popular e-mail marketing service Constant Contact. I asked Wendi questions that are on the minds of all of my clients who want to get more customers into their small business — and I can bet these questions are on your mind, too!
Wendi covered the following tips for small business owners:
- How to get more people to see your e-mail content – even if they’re not on your list
- Exactly where you should spend your marketing time
- The top tips on how to grow your list – the right way
- And a lot more…

Have you used e-mail marketing in your business to bring you customers?

Thanks for the video. I’m a Constant Contact customer and a bit of an evangelist for email marketing, too. Some entrepreneurs don’t really seem to “get” email marketing; they collect email addresses from their customers but then let them get stale by never doing any mailings. It’s enough to make you weep for lost opportunities.
Thanks for your feedback, Charleen. Something else I see is that entrepreneurs collect email addresses like collecting old baseball cards. If you’re not targeting in cultivating the “collection,” most of what you’ll end up with is junk. It means nothing to have an email list of 100,000 if only 10 people open your newsletters.
