When short-term decisions conflict with long-term values

When short-term decisions conflict with long-term values

By Nina Kaufman, Esq.

At a recent networking event, I spoke about the importance of strategic planning. How it keeps you focused on your deeper, long-term goals. The very goals that often get pushed aside when faced with conflicting temptations and urgencies of the day. For example: If you complain your kids are growing up too fast, but insist on working 14-hour days, that’s a conflict. If you say you want to work with clients who pay timely, but don’t outline solid contract terms, that’s a conflict. If you want to take that bucket list trip to Europe in style, but blow through your cash dining out every week, that’s a conflict. A mortgage broker came up to me after the presentation. She said, I’m so glad you mentioned that conflict during the program. I work with a lot of people who are self-employed. They tend to take all the disposable cash out of the business and put it in their pocket so they won’t show a profit and have to pay taxes on it. Problem is, when they…

Flying solo doesn’t have to mean going it alone.

I’m Nina Kaufman.

I know first-hand that running a knowledge-based service business has unique challenges. It’s so much easier when you have an advocate in your corner. Over the past 25 years, I’ve worked with thousands of New York business professionals who want a legal advisor to guide and support them as they navigate the business world.

With wide-ranging experience as a business attorney, strategist, and media authority, I bring the added power of a business lens to the legal issues my clients are facing.

And because I’ve been a business owner myself, I’ve lived through the soaring highs and devastating lows – like when my first law firm failed. So I understand what’s involved to serve great clients, detect business risks early and build a true legacy.

I can’t get those 12 years back. That’s why I have made it my mission to ensure that business professionals like you can become wise and discerning leaders, build a solid business, and live your best life.
