According to a survey by Mercer, “The Total Financial Impact of Employee Absence,” the total cost of absence can equal as much as 36 percent of payroll (compared with 15.4 percent for health-care coverage). So why don’t entrepreneurs take the same approach toward their legal issues? Partly because small-business owners are already inundated with so many items to monitor–what’s cash flow like today?
