Has your office become a second bedroom? Are you stuck in a cycle of perpetual catch-up–working too many hours and not having time for the people, places, and things that are just as important?
In this episode, business strategist Richard James (who did move a couch into his office until …) points out the top systems that most businesses lack, and how to grow your business without growing the time you spend on it each day.
Don’t Move a Sofa Bed Into Your Office…
- Identify what is keeping you in the cycle of the 60-hour+ workweek. Whether it’s a lack of staff, perfectionism, or a lack of a clear goal, you must figure out where you want to be and what is holding you back.
- Focus on lead-generation, lead-conversion, and accounts receivable. These are the top three “machines” for service businesses to build measurable systems and repeatable outcomes.
- Keep good records for each stage of the client business cycle. Which percentage of clients are scheduling a consultation, keeping the appointment, buying the service, paying the bill, referring others? Good records give you the data points to determine which parts of the system are working well and which need to change. Once you know your trends, you can move to automate as much as you can.
- Change the systems before you change your staff. Remember that systems should run your business, and people should run your systems; it’s usually easier to tweak the system before you change out your staff.
Having systems that work and the people to put those systems into place can help you avoid the stress and exhaustion of trying to do it all. If you want to achieve success in your business and find balance in your life, be sure to listen to Cash Out BIG.
