In All Things, Give Thanks
By Nina Kaufman, Esq.Ever run around like a crazy person, only to finally have 5 minutes of down time? That’s me right now. I’m off on vacation at the crack of dawn on Friday—tomorrow will be a Thanksgiving blur at my husband’s sister’s place in upstate NY (a full day of family and food)—so the last day has been the working equivalent of a blivet. In other words, I’ve been trying to shove 24 hours of work into an 8-hour time frame.
Okay, so I’m not totally succeeding, but I did just get a couple of major projects off my plate and now I can take a deep breath.
Amazing, what a deep breath will do. As well as the prospect of some real down time. Makes me feel all warm and squishy and … grateful. Fitting, for this time of year. Here’s my gratitude shortlist:
- For the help of a wonderful team of paralegals to help me go through the painful process of inventorying over 100 boxes of old client files that I had in storage
- For wonderful colleagues like Lena and Dawn and Melinda who shared brilliant insights into social media, marketing, affiliate program development, and so much more
- For Rochelle and Nancy and Lauren and Dana and Maris and Nance, who make me laugh while giving me a broader perspective
- For clients, cherished and challenging, who have blessed me with work in a year where that can’t be taken for granted (of course, not that it ever should be …)
- For you, dear blog readers and tweeps, who provided intelligent insights as I embarked on a whole new branding strategy
- For Natalie, who’s covering me while I’m away
- For Joe, who helps me keep the faith (no mean feat, for this practical gal)
- For Todd and Darcey, who are working to help me become my greater yet-to-be
- For Elisa, who made me rise to the occasion by nominating me for the SBA’s Women in Business Champion of the Year
- For Elizabeth, Lena (again), Rosemary, Kathy, and Dawn (again), who seconded that (e)motion
- For this season of Thanksgiving, where time is just a little more slowly, and I can reflect on the competence of the year past and start thinking about the exciting things that 2011 will bring
One last deep breath–the phone is ringing!
